Desford u15s v Rugby Town Girls u15s

Rugby travelled to Desford for their first match for 6 weeks. Intially they started slowly on a very large pitch which could do with a cut, but continued to do what they were asked to do and pass the ball into space and work for each other. Constantly on the front foot and always pressing the Desford defence the opening goal was always inevitably, and Flick duly obliged by opening Rugby’s 2018 account running onto a sublime through pass from Lauren that split the Desford defence. This really relaxed the whole Rugby team and the passing then move game that are so good at came to the fore. Lauren then grabbed her hat trick before half time to take Rugby into the break with a comfortable 4-0 lead. Having 4 substitutes really helped with player rotation after players picked up little knocks and were able to come off for a rest, before going back on. Players were tried in new positions and the positive reactions surprised the players more than the management.
The second half Rugby seemed to take the foot off the accelerator a little but Rugby’s defence stood firm and tackled strongly and firmly, never letting Desford attack Megan’s goal in anger throughout the whole match.

The forward line continued to press Desford back at every opportunity they could, with Lauren netting 2 more & Flick not letting Lauren out do her and grabbing herself a hat trick. Well done to all the players, you all played your part and did what was asked.
