Another fine display from Rugby Town u15s today saw them beat Leicester with only 10 players after an even first 20 minutes & playing into the wind, Rugby broke the deadlock with some fine combination passing between Lauren & Flick with a fine finish from Flick 1-0 to Rugby. The girls went further ahead with some superb short passing & a lovely through ball from Lauren putting Hollie through to score, Rugby 2-0 up.
Leicester were never out of the game & continued to give Rugby a hard time but Rugby again combined well with Chloe finishing of a fine move 3-0. Flick put Rugby further ahead after a superb lay off from Chloe. Leicester got a goal back just before half time after an accidental hand ball in the box, penalty to Leicester. Megan stood tall & strong in goal and made a superb save only for Leicester to score the rebound, Half time 4-1
Leicester started the second half with fire in their belly and started to take the game to Rugby & with only 10 players they coped well with Kacie covering almost the entire midfield. The girls stood strong and weathered the storm, Rugby started to pass the ball a lot better and went further ahead after a fine through ball from Hollie for Flick to score her hat trick 5-1. Leicester didn’t really offer any threat to the Rugby goal and the girls went 6-1 up after Lauren chased down the ball to run through and score for 7-1.
Rugby went down to 9 players with Eggy coming off after a strong tackle but they carried on playing positively with Flick scoring her fourth, Eggy came back on to take us back up to ten players only for Hollie to suffer a broken foot in two places. Even with only 9 players Rugby went 9-1 up with captain Kacie scoring her first of the season. A fine effort from all the team today & a massive well done to all. Wishing Hollie a speedy recovery.
