Another fine display by Rugby Town Girls FC U10’s away at Groby Juniors. Injuries and absences meant that some of girls had to play in positions they were not familiar with but they coped very well. Some fine saves by the Groby keeper throughout the match kept the score down but this could also be said for our own stand in keeper Rosie who was a spectator for most of the game but stayed alert & still pulled out some fine stops when required.
Melissa was full of running up front & the Groby defence couldn’t match her for pace at times. Tireless performances from Holly, Katie, Lois & Lila in midfield getting some strong ball winning tackles in & great passing play at times. Jasmine & Madi worked really hard at the back in positions they are unfamiliar with & kept the Groby attack to a bare minimum, great effort girls.
Lots of positives to take from the game & some minor points to work on in training, knowing when to release the ball quicker for the forward play & conceding goals from our own silly mistakes, most if not all goals against have come this way but we’ll work hard on these for the future.
Spectators Player Of The Match awarded to Jasmine for her superb performance in defence keeping the Groby attack quiet for most of the game & getting forward when needed. Coaches Player Of The Match awarded to Lila for a fine first game as captain in central midfield, tough tackling & great pin point passing, a tough decision on both awards as it was a great team effort by all.
Well done girls, next match at home to AFC Market Bosworth U10s
