Rugby Town Ladies Dev v Sutton Coldfield Town Ladies Dev

Rugby Town Ladies Development hosted third placed Sutton Coldfield Town Royals at Kilsby Lane.

Rugby were far more confident this week and the shape of the team was far better than the weekend before. Natasha Beadle was inspirational in goal today, very confident and pulled off some of the best saves I have ever seen from a young keeper.

The defence of Pip Goodman, Abigail Deitch and Paige Pollard all played well and kept Sutton out numerous times, with Paige looking particularly good at left back. Sutton grabbed an early goal and then took at least thirty minutes to get another, then a shot that no keeper could save gave Sutton three before the break.

Half time chat out the way and the ladies took on board what was needed and began creating more chances, but as you push forward you create space in the middle of the pitch and Sutton had a left winger that was lightning quick who used this space to her advantage well and further increased Suttons lead.

The game then opened up for Rugby midway through the second half and Chloe showed the Sutton left winger that she was just as quick as her, if not quicker. If the ladies could use the width and pace they had on the wings today to better effect I believe that we would have certainly got some players on the score sheet. As with last week it is the performance of the team that matters at the moment and not the score line, I have a few things to work on at training but we have the foundations of a very good team and our time will come very soon. Keep up the hard work ladies.

Player of the match awarded to Natasha Beadle – outstanding.
